Winston Link was an American photographer that is famous for his black and white pictures of locomotives before they stopped being used. He was born on December 16 1914, and raised in Brooklyn with his two siblings. When he graduated from high school he attended the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn where he graduated with a degree in civil engineering. He started to work for the Columbia University where he worked as a photographer and engineer. He became entranced in the Norfolk and Western Railway line, which are where all of his major photos were taken. He had a heart attack and died on January 30 2001.
